Soldiers & Sailors Hosts United States Navy Band Commodores Jazz Ensemble

PITTSBURGH — Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Trust, Inc. announced it will host the United States Navy Band’s jazz ensemble from Washington, D.C. “The Commodores” will perform a FREE concert on Sunday, October 25, 2015. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Concert begins at 7:00 p.m.
“We are honored to host this community event presented by the United States Navy Band,” said President and CEO John F. McCabe. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our region to experience the magnificent sounds of these talented musicians and is sure to inspire and entertain guests of all ages.”
The Navy Band Commodores features 18 top jazz and “big band” musicians offering a mixture of styles ranging from the authentic sounds of the swing era to the contemporary high energy music. Dizzy Gillespie, Grover Washington Jr., Louis Bellson, and Pete Christlieb are a few of the guest artists who have appeared with the ensemble. The band will also feature Pittsburgh native MU 1 Shawn P. Purcell.
